V-02HD MK II: Can I load still image files into this unit?

The V-02HD MK II cannot load still image files.

You can capture a still image from input video and output it in the same way as you would with video, or use it as a source for key compositing.

Follow the steps below.

Setting how the still image is saved

There are two ways to save a still image you’ve captured—either save internally on this unit, or temporarily store on this unit (in the latter case, the captured image is erased when you turn off the power). The resolution of the image when captured varies depending on the method you choose.

You can save only one still image internally in this unit (including temporary storage). If a still image is already saved, capturing a new still image overwrites the previously saved image.

  1. Press the [MENU] button to display the menu screen.
  2. Turn the [VALUE] knob to select “13:CAPTURE IMAGE,” and press the [VALUE] knob.
  3. Turn the [VALUE] knob to select “SAVE TO INTERNAL STORAGE,” and press the [VALUE] knob.
  4. Turn the [VALUE] knob to select the method of saving, and press the [VALUE] knob.

    • DISABLE: The image is captured at the actual resolution, and the still image is temporarily saved in this unit. When you turn off the power, the captured still image is deleted. This lets you capture images without sacrificing image quality. This method is suitable for still images that include a logo or small characters.
    • ENABLE: The image resolution is reduced to 640 × 360 when captured, and the still image is saved to this unit. Since the still image is expanded when it is output, the image quality might be impaired.

Capturing a still image

To capture by operating a button

  1. Press the [TYPE] button several times to select the transition effect (MIX, WIPE).
    - You can only press the buttons to capture when mix or wipe is selected for the video effect.

  2. According to the still image that you want to capture, long-press the [1] or [2] button (three seconds or longer).
    - The capture is executed. Input stops for the video that is being captured. When the normal output returns, capture is complete.

To capture by operating the menu

  1. Press the [MENU] button to display the menu screen.
  2. Turn the [VALUE] knob to select “13:CAPTURE IMAGE,” and press the [VALUE] knob.
  3. Turn the [VALUE] knob to select “CAPTURE SOURCE,” and press the [VALUE] knob.
  4. Use the [VALUE] knob to select either “INPUT 1” or “INPUT 2” according to the still image that you want to capture.

  5. Press the [VALUE] knob to confirm.
  6. Use the [VALUE] knob to select “CAPTURE EXECUTE.”
    - A confirmation message appears.
    - If you want to cancel the operation, press the [MENU] button.
  7. Use the [VALUE] knob to select “YES,” and press the [VALUE] knob.
    - The capture is executed. Input stops for the video that is being captured.
    - When the operation is finished, the message “COMPLETE” appears, and the output returns to normal.

  8. Press the [MENU] button several times to close the menu.
