V-160HD: Can I import a PNG file that includes transparency data?
Yes. You can use the ALPHA KEY of DSK mode to cut out a still image using the alpha channel (the region of an image that contains transparency data) of a PNG file, and overlay that image on the background video as a composite.
From [MENU] -> “DSK 1” or “DSK 2” -> “DSK MODE,” select “ALPHA KEY” and then select a PNG file with alpha channel using STILL 1–16 of “DSK SOURCE.”
- See the related Q&A, “Loading a still image from a USB flash drive” for details on loading still image files.
Alpha Channel Handling:
The V-160HD processes the alpha channel only in DSK mode. For all other functions, including PGM, PVW, AUX, PinP & KEY, MULTI-VIEW, and 16 STILL-VIEW, the alpha channel is not used. Images will be displayed without transparency, using the internal color data of the PNG file. For example, if a PNG file’s transparent background contains red as its internal color, this red background will appear when displayed in functions other than DSK.
