V-600UHD: How to Set Up an Audio Mix Minus
Note that the AUX Audio bus is separate from the AUX video bus and AUX video output
The AUX audio bus allows you to set up an alternate mix. This would typically be used if you wanted to record your content without the music track, for example.
A breakdown of the related menu settings are in this guide:
V-600UHD: Audio Controls and Signal Routing
The Send Level is the amount of audio going from an input source to the AUX audio bus, this is separated from the Main Level.
Please see the attached block diagram, and note the AUX send is "pre-fader", which will simplify configuration:
This also means if you mute or adjust the level of a channel in the Main mix, it will not affect the send level in the AUX mix, hence pre-fader.
You can then assign each video output or the XLR audio output to use either the Main mix or the AUX audio mix.
For example, to send HDMI input 4 and the XLR inputs to the AUX audio bus and output via HDMI 3:
- Menu > Audio > HDMI IN 4 > AUX Send > 0 dB
- Menu > Audio > Audio In > AUX Send > 0 dB
- Menu > Audio > Output > Level/Delay > Aux > Level > 0 dB
- Menu > Audio > Output > Source > HDMI OUT 3 > AUX
Below are some additional use cases and examples to help explain this feature:
How to configure the audio so that:
Only HDMI inputs route embedded audio to only the XLR audio output
- Menu > Audio > HDMI IN X > Mute > On
- Menu > Audio > HDMI IN X > AUX Send > 0 dB
- Menu > Audio > Output > Level/Delay > Aux > Level > 0 dB
- Menu > Audio > Output > Source > Audio Out > AUX
How to configure the audio so that:
All HDMI outputs output embedded audio only from the XLR audio input
For example: no embedded audio from the HDMI inputs go directly to any HDMI outs.
Use case: Using an external audio mixer to control all audio.
