Roland Switchers: Exporting a 24-bit Bitmap Image in MacOS

Some Roland switchers that support still image import only accept .BMP files

Some models have support for .PNG (alpha channel not supported) and .JPG files.

To check format compatibility with your model, first make sure you have the latest firmware on your switcher and refer to this chart:

Supported Model

BMP
(24-bit only)
PNG
(No alpha channel)
JPG

V-1HD+ (Plus only) mceclip41.png mceclip41.png
V-8HD mceclip41.png mceclip41.png mceclip41.png
V-60HD & XS-62S mceclip41.png mceclip41.png mceclip41.png
V-600UHD mceclip41.png mceclip41.png
V-800HD MK I & MK II mceclip41.png
V-1200HD mceclip41.png mceclip41.png
VR-1HD mceclip41.png
VR-50HD MK I & MK II mceclip41.png
XS-1HD mceclip41.png
VP-42H & XS-42H mceclip41.png
XS-80H Series mceclip41.png

If you need to import .BMP files and you're using a Mac, note that it needs to be a 24-bit Bitmap format, and Macs cannot properly export that format with the built-in MacOS program called Preview.

Some customers have success exporting via Photoshop, or an online image converter.

If you have access to Windows, MS Paint can easily export this exact format

Also, in some rare cases it can be the USB flash drive causing the import issue, so try a different drive as well.
