V-8HD: How to Set Up AUX Video Out and Other Video Output Bus Assignments
The following information is from the V-8HD Reference Manual.
If you would like more information on this topic, please contact support via Roland Backstage.
Changing Output Bus Assignments
The V-8HD has four internal output buses (PROGRAM, PREVIEW, AUX, and MULTI-VIEW).
The 3 HDMI outputs can be assigned to display any bus, but note that the built-in LCD screen shares Output 3's assignment.
Typically, you would keep this set as Multi-View, but some of you may want it to display Program. If that is the case, please see the section below about customizing that output's text displayed on screen.
You can select which buses to output via the OUTPUT 1–3 connectors.
MEMO
By holding down the [EXIT] button and pressing the [TRANSITION] button, you can switch the output bus that assign to OUTPUT 3 connector.
For details about video transitions on the A/PGM, B/PST, and AUX bus, refer to V-8HD: Different Ways to Switch Between Video Inputs.
How to Customize HDMI Output 3
If you want to have Program instead of Multi-View on the built-in LCD screen, there are some additional settings to consider.
For example, maybe you prefer to have Output 2 assigned to Multi-View on a larger monitor, and want to see your Program on the built-in LCD while operating the V-8HD. You would change the output assignments to:
- Output 1 as Program
- Output 2 as Multi-View
- Output 3 as Program
But you'll notice that Output 3 has the text "PGM" overlaid on it, and when you open the menu, it appears on that output, so if you intend for your audience to see that output, you will need to change a couple settings in the System menu.
- Note that the following recommended settings will disable all on-screen and menu text on Output 3, but it will remain on the built-in LCD screen.
This setting removes the text "PGM" at the bottom-center of the Output 3:
MENU > SYSTEM (4/5) > OUTPUT 3 OSD > LABEL/LEVEL METER/INDICATION > OFF
This setting prevents the on-screen menu from appearing on Output 3:
MENU > SYSTEM (4/5) > OUTPUT 3 OSD > ON SCREEN MENU > OFF
About Audio Outputs Assigned to Output Buses
Changing an output bus assignment makes the output audio also change in tandem, according to the assigned bus.
You can also fix the output audio to the MAIN bus or AUX bus regardless of the output bus assignment.
