M-5000: Troubleshooting iPad Connection Issues
The following article troubleshoots in the event that an iPad is losing connection or won't connect with an M-5000.
- Be sure that the correct setup procedure is being followed for wireless setup:
M-5000 / M-5000C Remote User's Guide - Be sure that the M-5000 is operating at the latest System Program Version:
https://proav.roland.com/global/support/by_product/m-5000/updates_drivers/ - Try deleting the M-5000 Remote App from the iPad and then reinstalling from the App Store.
- Try initializing the M-5000 (MENU-->SETUP-->INITIALIZE). On the initialize screen, select all parameters ("ALL MIXER SETTINGS" and "ALL") to initialize all aspects of the M-5000.
Note: Be sure to backup settings prior to initializing the console. - The following downloadable document shows how to increase V-mixer iPad remote control app connection stability. iPadGuidedAccessMode.pdf
Note that communication between an iPad and then M-5000 may take a few moments. In the iPad M-5000 Remote App, it may take multiple "Online" attempts for the iPad to communicate. - If using a wireless USB adapter:
- Be sure that the wireless USB adapter is compatible. The M-5000 is compatible with a WNA-1100, WNA-150 or WNA-1 Wireless USB Adapter. While other wireless USB adapters may work, we have not tested others and cannot guarantee compatibility.
Note: Wireless USB adapters operate at 2.4gHz. Cell phones communicate at 2.4gHz and dropouts can occur if there are a large amount of cell phones in the area. Using a router set to 5gHz that's connected to the M-200i's LAN port, instead of a wireless USB adapter, can often resolve dropouts that are occurring because of the 2.4gHz interference.
- Be sure that the wireless USB adapter is compatible. The M-5000 is compatible with a WNA-1100, WNA-150 or WNA-1 Wireless USB Adapter. While other wireless USB adapters may work, we have not tested others and cannot guarantee compatibility.
- If using a LAN connection with a router:
- Make sure that the router is ONLY connected to the M-5000. No other networks or devices should be plugged into the router while troubleshooting.
- Make sure that the M-5000 is plugged into a LAN port on the router and not a MODEM or INTERNET port.
- Make sure that the M-5000 Network LAN settings are set to DHCP and that DHCP is active on the router as well.
- Test with a different network cable that connects the M-5000 to the router.
- Try initializing the router.
- Certain routers may take a few moments to communicate with the M-5000. After connecting to the mixer, wait a minute or two to see if communication occurs.
- Test with a different router (if available).
- Test with a different iPad (if available) to rule out an issue with the iPad.
