The DIF-800 is a digital communications interface that connects the Roland
DM-800 Digital Audio Workstation to the Tascam DA-88, the Alesis ADAT or RS-422
video editors and profession VTRs (Sony 9-pin serial protocol). It utilizes
the RMDB (Roland Multipurpose Digital Buss) to transfer data to and from the
DM-800 and the connected device. Eight channels of digital audio are available
through the RMDB plus bi-directional serial control (transport), SMPTE and
sample clock information.
