AeroCaster: How to Set Up Lip Sync Audio Delay
This guide helps you adjust Lip Sync Delay in AeroCaster Live by using the VRC-01 controller, if needed.
AUTOMATICALLY IN SYNC
AeroCaster automatically adjusts lip sync, so for most setups you do not need to adjust the delay settings.
But before you start your stream or recording, it can't hurt to check:
- Turn off the Direct Monitor button on the VRC-01
- Have someone close to a microphone clap their hands once in front of a camera
- If you are set up close to them, wear headphones with good isolation
- Adjust the Lip Sync Delay knob on the VRC-01 and have them clap again
- Repeat until the clap's audio matches the video
- Your stream and recording will now be in sync
If the people on camera are close to you and you are hearing an echo, turn the Direct Monitor button back on to hear the microphones in real-time.
- Note that you will not hear any camera mics or media clips until you turn Direct Monitor off again.
WHAT CAUSES DELAY?
Most of the time, it's because you increased the quality of the camera signals.
- The higher the Target Receive Bitrate setting (aka Camera quality) in the Settings menu , the more delay there will be.
- This is not the same as your stream output's bitrate .
- If you are on Wi-Fi, a Target Receive Bitrate of 5,000 Kbps or less will work best.
- If your cameras are wired to the iPad with ethernet adapters and an internet router, you can go much higher, but you will need to add audio delay to compensate.
CAN I SET THE DELAY IN THE APP?
There are actually two ways to add delay:
- The Lip Sync Delay knob on the VRC-01 controller
- The manual delay slider in the Audio section of the AeroCaster Live app
The knob and slider each add up to 1 second of audio delay, for a possible total of 2 seconds.
For more information on setting the delay, see “Correcting Time Differences Between Video and Audio (Delay)” in the “AeroCaster LIVE Owner’s Manual”.
