R-1000: What External Hard Drives Are Compatible?
The following are external hard drive specifications for the R-1000.
- Connects to a USB connector type A on the R-1000
- Supports mass storage
- Power:
- External hard drives must be able to be powered by a USB port that provides a maximum of 5W. If the drive requires more power than 5W (which larger capacity drives do), a USB "Y" cable power enhancer can be used to sufficiently supply power to hard drives:

- Formatting the drive:
- When a new removable storage device is inserted into the REMOVABLE STORAGE bay, a confirmation screen will appear. Touch [Format] at the confirmation screen to start formatting.
- If this screen does not appear but the drive needs to be formatted, this can be done manually following the "Re-formatting a Formatted Removable Storage Device" section on pages 19 and 20 of the manual:
