The V-1600HD gives you the flexibility to key in two different styles; Luminance Key or Chroma Key. Here are the steps to follow to composite a key:

1. Select PGM under monitor. This set the display mode for the unit’s monitor to [PGM].
   
                                
   
   
2. At the PGM bus section, use the INPUT selectors to select the image you want as the background picture and should display it on the unit’s monitor.
   
   
   
   
3. Select PVW under monitor. This set the display mode for the unit’s monitor to [PVW].
   
                              
4. Select the channel of the picture to superimpose. Set the display mode for the unit’s monitor to [PVW]. At the PST/EFFECT section, use the INPUT selectors to choose the channel you want to superimpose.
   
   
5. Turn on the key. At the KEY section, press the [ON] button. It lights up in green.
   
                          
   
   
6. Adjust the amount of keying and the degree of edge blur. While watching the preview on the unit’s monitor, go to the KEY section and use the [LEVEL] dial to adjust the amount of keying and the [GAIN] dial to adjust the degree of blur for the edges.
   
               
   
   
   
   
7. Output the composited results. Press the [TAKE] button. The [ON] button lights up in red and the results of compositing are output from the V-1600HD.
   
   

When Key is activated, MIX is automatically selected even if you have selected WIPE in the WIPE PATTERN section.
