VR-4HD System Program (Ver.2.110)


USE THE LATEST VERSION OF VR-4HD RCS
Before you start, make sure that the version of VR-4HD RCS you're using is the most recent.
  • VR-4HD RCS for Windows
  • VR-4HD RCS for macOS

HOW TO KNOW THE VERSION
Before you start, check the system program version of your VR-4HD.
  1. Press the [ SYSTEM SETUP ] button.
    The "SYSTEM SETUP" screen will appear.
  2. Turn the [ VALUE ] knob to select "SYSTEM," then press the [ VALUE ] knob.
    The SYSTEM parameters are displayed.
  3. Turn the [ VALUE ] knob to display "VERSION."
    The current version is displayed in the "VERSION" field.

* If this shows the latest version, there's no need to update your VR-4HD.
* You can also check the version by touching the monitor.
* You can also use VR-4HD RCS to check the version.

[ Additional Functions ]
  • LOOP-BACK SW has been added to USB FROM PC, and so it is now possible to make the setting so that the USB FROM PC audio is not sent to the main bus.
  • The scaling type for the unit's LCD screen is now selectable.

  • Effects sometimes change for each channel with the Echo Cancel feature.

  • Functions that let you change the configuration of the PinP inset screen (SHAPE and ASPECT) have been added.
  • Functions for extracting the PinP inset screen and for adjusting the position of the video in the PinP inset screen have been added.
  • A function for enabling the SPLIT CENTER separation point to be freely adjusted has been added.
  • A VIDEO FOLLOWS AUDIO function has been added.
    This enables the video channel to be switched automatically according to the volume level of microphone input.
  • A BEAT SYNC SWITCHING function has been added.
    This enables the video channel to be switched automatically in time with the beat of input music.
  • A function enabling the AUTO SCAN display order to be randomized has been added.
  • A function enabling AUTO SCAN TIME to be set individually for each channel has been added.
  • A function enabling a lock setting to be made for each individual control has been added to the PANEL LOCK feature.
  • "INPUT CAPTURE" has been added as a function assignable to a USER button.
[ Functionality Improvement ]
  • Audio channel information is now explicitly described in the HDMI output signal.
[ Bug Fixes ]
The following bugs were fixed.
  • When using chroma key, the background video is slightly visible even when KEY LEVEL is set to "0."
  • Other minor bugs.

The following bugs were fixed.
  • Black lines sometimes appearing in the top and bottom of VIDEO OUT (HDMI OUT or RGB/COMPONENT) video when input is 1080p or 1080i and output also is 1080i.
    * Set [VIDEO OUT] - [SCALING TYPE] to "DOT BY DOT."
  • Current-memory and system settings failing to be saved when restoring settings from VR-4HD RCS.

[ Bug Fixes ]
The following bugs were fixed.
  • When connected to some recorders, main output sometimes fails to stabilize.
  • During input and output that are both interlaced, the multi-view output field sometimes displays reverse video.
[ Functionality Improvement ]
  • During input and output that are both interlaced, a popup message is now displayed to prompt setting the system format to "1080i" (interlaced).
    * When using interlaced signals for both input and output, output image quality is degraded when the system format is set to "1080p" or "720p" (progressive).

  • A function for using VR-4HD RCS to send still images from a computer was added.
  • A function for capturing incoming video on channel 4 and importing it as a still image was added.
  • A function for taking a still image acquired by sending or capturing and assigning it to the OUTPUT FADE button for output was added.
  • A size value of "1/3" was added to PinP SIZE.
[ Bug Fixes ]
The following bugs were fixed.
  • When 1080i video is input, the picture is sometimes blurred.
  • Other minor bugs.

[ Additional Functions ]
  • Support for remote-control functionality using VR-4HD RCS was added.
  • Support for remote-control functionality using USB MIDI was added.
[ Bug Fixes ]
The following bugs were fixed.
  • When the value of OUTPUT FADE BLACK LEVEL or OUTPUT FADE WHITE LEVEL is changed, the fade level changes.
  • The OUTPUT FADE button fails to go dark when a FACTORY RESET is executed while OUTPUT FADE is on.
  • When a FACTORY RESET is executed, sometimes two Tally boxes are displayed.
  • When the system format or the frame rate is changed, in rare cases, video capture becomes impossible.
  • Some RS-232 commands (QPI, QDK, QPG and QUB) do not function correctly.
  • The KEY display fails to be updated when a DSK command is received via RS-232.
  • Other minor bugs.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR VR-4HD
  • VR-4HD
  • A computer on which VR-4HD RCS is running
  • USB cable
  • VR-4HD RCS for Windows or VR-4HD RCS for macOS

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the VR-4HD. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your VR-4HD while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the VR-4HD won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
Please open/extract the downloaded " vr4hd_sys_v2110.zip " file on your computer to get the update files in the " vr4hd_sys_v2110 " folder.

PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Please refer to the " VR-4HD RCS Owner's Manual " for detailed information in the [ Owner's Manuals ].
Caution
  • You must not rename the extracted files.
  • Never turn off the VR-4HD's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the VR-4HD itself may be destroyed.

Please install the extracted system program files into your VR-4HD according to the following procedure.
  1. Install VR-4HD RCS into a Windows PC or a Mac.
  2. Use a USB cable to connect the VR-4HD to the computer running Windows or the Mac.
  3. Hold down the [ SYSTEM SETUP ] button and the [ OUTPUT ] button and turn on the power to the VR-4HD.
  4. Start VR-4HD RCS.
  5. Click the [ UPDATE ] button at the top left of VR-4HD RCS.
  6. Click the [ Open Bin File ] button to select "vr4hd_ver2110.bin" in the vr4hd_sys_v2110 folder.
  7. Click the [ Start Update ] button.
    * The update requires about 4 minutes for Windows and about 6 minutes for macOS.
  8. When "Update Completed" is displayed, the update is completed.
  9. Quit VR-4HD RCS.
  10. Use the [ POWER ] button to reset the power.
