V-8HD SYSTEM PROGRAM ( VER.2.02 )
HOW TO KNOW THE VERSION
Before you start, check the system program version of your V-8HD.
- Press [ MENU ] to invoke the MENU screen.
- Turn the [VALUE] knob to select SYSTEM, then press the [VALUE] knob.
- Turn the [VALUE] knob to select VERSION.
The version information is displayed.

[ Additional Functions ]

- Support for version 2.0.0 of the V-8HD Remote dedicated control app for the iPad was added.
(Version 2.00 of the V-8HD system program does not operate correctly in combination with versions of V-8HD Remote earlier than 2.0.0. Use after first updating to the latest version from the App Store.) - A macro function and a sequencer function have been added.
- Importing PNG images containing transparency information (alpha) and DSK compositing using transparency information are now supported.
- DSK compositing by external keying using multiple video inputs is now supported.
- The values of 23.98 Hz, 24 Hz, 25 Hz, 29.97 Hz, and 30 Hz have been added to the system frame rates.
(These are selectable only when the system format is 1080p.) - Functions for saving only PRESET MEMORY content to a USB flash drive and recalling only PRESET MEMORY content from a USB flash drive have been added.
[ Functionality Improvements ]
- Functionality has been changed so that the audio of respective HDMI inputs can be separately output to the audio output AUX buses.
- Functionality has been changed so that the settings for applying effects to audio sent to audio output AUX buses can be made with greater granularity.
This is selectable from DRY, PRE FADER, and POST FADER. - A setting has been added for not recalling the AUX channel selection when recalling settings from a preset memory.
- An option has been added for not saving to internal memory when importing or capturing a still image.
Changing the setting for saving to internal memory to OFF eliminates sound drop-out during saving and enables still images to be imported or captured in shorter times. - A function for batch deletion of still images has been added.
All still images can be deleted by choosing the "ALL" selection for DELETE STILL IMAGE on the STILL IMAGE menu. - Functionality has been changed so that images having the ".jpeg" file extension can be imported.
- Functionality has been changed so that even incompatible USB flash drives can be formatted to a supported file system.
- Functionality has been changed so that USER SW ASSIGN and ASSIGN for CTL/EXP are selectable for each individual category.
- Functionality has been changed so that video transitions during an Effects Transition Sync operation can be performed more seamlessly.
- Functionality has been changed so that TEST PATTERN moves at a uniform speed.
- Functionality has been changed so that sample data for still images and preset memory is loaded when the unit is a factory set or a factory reset.
- The size of the menu display has been adjusted.

- Support for importing JPEG files has been added.

- A function has been added that enables a fade to be applied to DSK and PGM/PST cuts, in addition to PinP, when loading a preset memory.
- A function for assigning names to preset memories has been added.
- A function has been added that makes the cross-point buttons the buttons for preset memories "9" through "24" when MODE is set to MEMORY.

- A function has been added that lets you edit the current file name of an existing file selected at the BACKUP ALL SETTINGS screen when saving the unit's settings to a USB flash memory.

- At startup or when the frame rate is changed, in rare cases, the picture sometimes becomes corrupted.
- When the PinP FADE TIME value in a preset memory is set to 0.0 sec, the picture-in-picture inset screen is momentarily corrupted when the preset memory is loaded.
- When the settings "SYSTEM FORMAT: 1080i" and "FRAME RATE: 60 Hz" are in effect, the picture-in-picture inset screen fails to be displayed correctly.

- A function was added to reduce the size of the text for the label displayed for OUTPUT 3.

- "VIDEO CROSSPOINT" was added to the LOAD PARAMETER values for PRESET MEMORY.
It is now possible to select whether or not to load the CROSS-POINT, AUX, T-bar, and AUTO TAKE state. - A function was added to enable settings for HDMI Output Audio to be made independently, without dependence on the VIDEO OUTPUT ASSIGN.
- Shortcuts were added for jumping to the respective DSK, PinP, SPLIT/VFX, and TRANSITION menu items.
It is possible to jump to each respective item by holding down its button and pressing the [MENU] button. - A shortcut was added for switching the OUTPUT 3 assignment.
Holding down the [EXIT] button and pressing the [TRANSITION] buttons switches the selection in the sequence of PROGRAM - PREVIEW - AUX - MULTI-VIEW.
- It is now possible to change PGM, PVW, and AUX labels in MULTI-VIEW LABEL EDIT.
- The TEST TONE frequency can now be set independently for left and right.
- The execution time for CAPTURE IMAGE has been shortened.
- The startup time for the V-8HD has been shortened.

- When a PRESET MEMORY is recalled, a fade-in or fade-out takes place for the PinP time even when the settings load no picture-in-picture.

The following bugs were fixed.
- Support for the "V-8HD Remote" dedicated control app for the iPad was added.
- Support for Canon VSIF was added.
A function was added to display recording status on the MULTI-VIEW screen.
- The types of character that can be used in text editing at the MULTI-VIEW LABEL EDIT screen were added.
- A function was added for switching the character type when editing text at the MULTI-VIEW LABEL EDIT screen or BACKUP ALL SETTINGS screen by holding down the [VALUE] knob while turning it.
- A PinP SWAP SETTINGS function was added.
This makes it possible to swap the setting values for PinP1 and PinP2. - The behavior of BPM SYNC was adjusted to be in line with other models.
- A dialog box is now displayed when a still image is reloaded at the time HDCP is switched on or off or the System Format is changed.
- When the PRESET MEMORY SCAN setting is in effect, automatic saving of LAST MEMORY values now no longer occurs.

- The colors of output video sometimes bleed.
- In extremely rare cases, the still-picture area fails to be drawn correctly.
- Audio input via an HDMI connector contains noise in rare instances.
- When interlaced video is input, in rare cases the picture on the MULTI-VIEW screen is shaky.
- When in the PGM/PST mode, if the CUT SW/AUTO SW assignments are different, the LED indication differs from behavior.
- When PANEL LOCK is set for MEMORY SW, the currently selected memory can be loaded.
- The problem was corrected in which setting PANEL LOCK for CUT SW also set PANEL LOCK for AUTO SW.
- When a memory is loaded while in the PGM/PST mode, VFX is sometimes activated for both A and B.
- When BPM TAP has been assigned to a USER button (USER SW), the LED indication and the timing with which the screen is switched using BPM SYNC sometimes fail to match.
- Remote control via USB MIDI.
- Some menu indications were changed.
- Other minor bugs.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE

- USB Memory
* The USB Memory need to be formatted on a V-8HD.
GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
Download the file named "v8hd_sys_v202.zip."
The downloaded file is an archive file in zip format. Right-click to select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.
After expanding the file, the folder "v8hd_sys_v202" holding the file "V-8HD.PRG" will appear.

PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Caution
- You must not rename the extracted files.
- Never turn off the V-8HD's power while the update is in progress.
Creating the Update USB Memory
- Copy V-8HD.PRG to the USB memory device's root directory (the level displayed immediately after opening the device).
Update Procedure
- Connect the USB Memory to the USB MEMORY port.
- Hold down the [ PinP 2 ON ] button, the [ DSK ON ] button, and the [ CAPTURE IMAGE ] button and turn on the power.
After power-up, continue holding down the depressed buttons until they light up. - After a short interval, the message "SYSTEM UPDATE PRESS [ENTER]" appears on the display.
After making sure "SYSTEM UPDATE PRESS [ENTER]" is displayed, press the [VALUE] knob.
The update starts. - When the message "UPDATE COMPLETE PLEASE RESTART" appears, the update has been completed.
* The update operation takes about 3 minutes. - After confirming that the message "UPDATE COMPLETED PLEASE RESTART" has been displayed, turn off the power.
Detach the USB Memory from the V-8HD.
This completes the update operation. The new system program runs at the next startup.
Follow the procedure for verifying the version to verify that the version has been updated.
