V-02HD System Program (Ver.1.20)


USE THE LATEST VERSION OF V-02HD UTILITY
Before you start, make sure that the version of V-02HD Utility you're using is the most recent.
  • V-02HD Utility for Windows
  • V-02HD Utility for macOS

HOW TO TELL THE VERSION
Please check the version of the system working on your V-02HD before downloading the archive file.
 
  1. Connect a monitor to the PREVIEW OUT connector.
    The menu appears on the monitor connected to PREVIEW OUT.
  2. Turn on the power to the V-02HD.
  3. Press [ MENU ] to invoke the MENU screen.
  4. Turn the [ VALUE ] knob to choose 14:SYSTEM, and then press the [ VALUE ] knob.
  5. Turn the [ VALUE ] knob to select VERSION.
    The version information screen appears.
* Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.

Additional Functions
  • A SHARED INPUT function was added.
    This function takes video input from the INPUT 1 connector and shares it via INPUT 1 and 2.
  • An "OFF" value was added to the PROGRAM LED COLOR and PREVIEW LED COLOR settings.
  • The AUTO SCAN function was expanded and its name changed to the AUTO SWITCHING function.
    In addition to the function for automatically switching the video between INPUT 1 and INPUT 2, preset memory settings can now be called up.
Functionality Improvements
  • When a preset memory is accessed, a "*" symbol is now displayed for the preset memory number where the data is saved.
    * The "*" symbol is displayed only for preset memory numbers saved after upgrading.
  • The setting unit for AUDIO DELAY was changed from "frame" to "msec."
Bug Fixes
The following bugs were fixed.
  • The picture is shown at an aspect ratio of 4:3 when some displays are connected.
  • A misadjusted black level occurs in video input via HDMI.
  • When interlaced video is input with the output format set at "1080i," the picture is sometimes shaky.
  • When the "PART MOSAIC" or "BACKGROUND MOSAIC" visual effect setting is made, "FULL MOSAIC" is sometimes applied.
  • The pedal calibration setting can be made even when CTL/EXP TYPE is set to a value other than "EXP."
  • When a preset memory is called up, updating of Visual Effect and Key Effect is sometimes momentarily delayed.
  • When FLIP H is in effect for a PinP inset screen, PinP VIEW POSITION H has no effect.
  • Other minor bugs.

Additional Functions
  • The V-02HD Remote iPad application is now supported.
  • "TRANSFORM" has been added to the INPUT SW ASSIGN settings.
    * These settings are effectively only if MIX/WIPE are selected as the video effect.
  • HD (1280 x 720/60 Hz) and FHD (1920 x 1080/60 Hz) have been added to the OUTPUT FORMAT settings.
  • A function was added to allow you to change the VFX TYPE setting by holding down the [VFX] button and turning the [CONTROL 1] knob.
Bug Fixes
The following bugs were fixed.
  • A slight border is visible even when PinP BORDER WIDTH is set to "0."
  • Audio noise occurs when the HDCP setting is changed from ON to OFF.
  • Video transitions using WIPE are sometimes slightly jerky.
  • Other minor bugs.

Additional Functions
  • Remote operation via USB MIDI is now supported.
  • A "SHORTCUT (INPUT SW)" item for disabling the capture function was added to the CAPTURE IMAGE menu.
    When "SHORTCUT (INPUT SW)" is set to "DISABLE," no capture of input video is performed when the [ 1 ] or [ 2 ] button is pressed and held.
Functionality Improvements
  • Turning the [ CONTROL 1 ] or [ CONTROL 2 ] knob rapidly produces large changes.
  • Operation was changed so that when EFFECTS TYPE is set to PinP, using the [ 1 ] button to swap the background video and the inset screen produces a switch with no intervening black screen.
  • The maximum value for AUDIO DELAY TIME was changed to 4.0 frames.
  • Millisecond (msec) indication of the AUDIO DELAY TIME value was added.
Bug Fixes
The following bugs were fixed.
  • In extremely rare cases, output video is corrupt immediately after startup.
  • When FLIP H is enabled for the PinP inset-screen video, the horizontal position of the picture becomes misaligned.
  • Noise artifacts are sometimes present in the lowermost line of a saved still image.
  • The video sometimes appears to flicker briefly when a preset memory is called up.
  • Other minor bugs.
 

ITEMS TO PREPARE FOR THE UPDATE
Following items are required to perform the update.
  • V-02HD itself
  • A computer on which V-02HD Utility runs
    Before you start, install and set up V-02HD Utility on the computer.
  • USB cable
  • Video Monitor (equipped with a HDMI input connector)
  • HDMI cable

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the V-02HD. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your V-02HD while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the V-02HD won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND EXPAND THE ARCHIVE FILE
Please open/extract the downloaded "v02hd_sys_v120.zip" file on your computer to get the update files in the "v02hd_sys_v120" folder.

PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Caution
  • You must not rename the extracted files.
  • Be very sure never to turn off the power to the V-02HD while the indicators for the [ 1 ] and [ 2 ] buttons are flashing in red. Doing so creates risk of corrupting the system program or damaging the V-02HD itself.

Please install the extracted system program files into your V-02HD according to the following procedure.
  1. Install and set up V-02HD Utility on the computer.
  2. Using the USB cable, connect the V-02HD to the computer.
  3. On the V-02HD, hold down the [ VFX ] button and turn on the power.
    The [ VFX ] button lights up in red.
  4. Start V-02HD Utility.

    If a connection between the V-02HD and the Mac computer cannot be established
    If the message "Please connect the V-02HD." is displayed and a connection between the V-02HD and the Mac cannot be established, carry out the operation described below.
    1. Quit V02HDUTL(.app) and detach the USB cable connecting the V-02HD and the Mac.
    2. Go into the [Applications] - [Utilities] folder and start Audio MIDI Setup(.app).
    3. Select [Window] - [Show MIDI Studio] to display "MIDI Studio."
    4. Select "V-1SDI," then use one of the methods described below to delete "V-1SDI."
      • With "V-1SDI" selected, press the [delete] key on the Mac.
      • With "V-1SDI" selected, select [Edit] - [Delete].
    5. Quit Audio MIDI Setup.
      Again carry out the operation described in "Procedure for the update."
  5. Click [ Update ] in V-02HD Utility.
  6. Drag V-02HD_ver120.bin in the v02hd_sys_v120 folder to the V-02HD Utility dialog box.
    * Alternatively, you can also click [ Bin File ] to display the Update File dialog box, then specify V-02HD_ver120.bin.
  7. Click [ Update ] in V-02HD Utility.
    While the update is in progress, the indicators for the [ 1 ] and [ 2 ] buttons change from yellow to flashing in red.

    If an error message is displayed while the update is in progress, click [Cancel] to quit the update.
    After that, quit V-02HD Utility, then carry out the update again.
  8. When the message "Update Completed" appears in the lower portion of the V-02HD Utility dialog box and the indicators for the [ 1 ] and [ 2 ] buttons light up in green, then update is complete.
  9. Click [ OK ] in V-02HD Utility to quit V-02HD Utility.
  10. Reset the power to the V-02HD.
